Doula Offerings

Hello! I’m Nadine, a passionate birth doula and postpartum doula. My journey into this nurturing role began from a deep belief that everyone deserves a robust support network during the transformative times of birth and postpartum. In the past, communities came together as a village to support new parents, but today, it's often limited to a visit from a loved one with a coffee. I wanted to bridge that gap and provide consistent, loving, and informed support to new parents.

I've had the privilege of giving birth twice. The first time was to my son, and although I had the support of my partner, I was talked out of having a doula by my midwife, a decision I regret letting happen. This lack of full support in my birth choices made me feel disempowered. Determined to have a different experience, the second time I gave birth as a surrogate, I ensured I had the support of both a birth and postpartum doula, which was invaluable. The doula not only supported me but also supported the rest of my team in supporting me, acting as a director in the room and prompting other support people to be there for the birthing person. This personal journey reinforced my commitment to becoming a doula myself.

While I’ve been a professional doula for a couple of years, my experience spans much further back. I attended my first birth at 12 years old and have been drawn to supporting pregnancies and new parents ever since. One of my most cherished experiences was helping a mother of triplets venture out of the house for the first time with her babies. The fresh air, sunshine, and simple joy of a coffee outing made a profound difference in her week.

I practice a holistic and inclusive approach, aiming to give parents the confidence to support their babies, trust their abilities, and foster connections. I believe the most crucial aspect of postpartum care is ensuring parents feel involved, heard, and seen. Consent and respect are at the core of my support, ensuring that parents are comfortable with my presence during such a vulnerable time.

I tailor my services to each family, respecting their culture, religion, family dynamics, gender, and sexuality. As a remedial massage therapist specialising in pregnancy and postpartum massage, and a baby-wearing educator, I bring additional skills to my practice. I love creating moments of kindness that can change the course of someone's week, providing a sense of fulfillment and joy.

Being a doula is my way of advocating for change in a system that often overlooks the needs of women, especially women of color. The postpartum period can be overwhelming and isolating, and I want to be there to support and empower new parents. I hope to leave a lasting impact by encouraging families to support others in their networks
